What is a Board Certified Orthodontist?

Board Certified Orthodontist, ABO Certification

What is a Board Certified Orthodontist?

A board certified orthodontist is an orthodontist who has completed extra voluntary certification from the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) after already becoming a licensed orthodontist.

Why does it matter?

Well, not only did Dr. Misner go to dental school to become a dentist, then have additional years of specialized training in orthodontics, but he also volunteered his time to become even more qualified to take better care of our patients!

To become board certified through the American Board of Orthodontics, doctors have to:

  • Pass a rigorous written exam
  • Present detailed treated patient cases
  • Demonstrate high standards of diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Maintain certification over time with continuing evaluation

So, Dr. Misner has

  • Met higher voluntary standards
  • Been evaluated by orthodontic experts
  • Demonstrated successful patient outcomes
  • Committed to ongoing professional development

Only a minority of orthodontists achieve this certification! You can trust that you’ll be getting the best care with our team for your orthodontic needs.
