It’s important to be diligent in cleaning your clear retainers to expand the life of the retainer and avoid discoloration or odors. Listed below are the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning suggestions we recommend:
- Always take out your retainers while eating or drinking anything other than water and while brushing your teeth!
- Brush your retainers with a toothbrush & toothpaste each time you take them out after wearing them. You can also soak them in mouthwash.
- Once per week, soak the retainers in 1 cup of cool water + 1 denture cleaning tablet for 30 minutes.
- Once per month, soak retainers in 1 cup of cool water + 1 tablespoon of Clorox bleach for 10 minutes. Rinse retainers well after bleaching or soak them in mouthwash!
As a friendly reminder, be sure to keep your retainers in the case we provided when you are not wearing them. Do not expose your retainers to heat or direct sunlight. Keep your retainers out of reach from animals, as they are commonly chewed up by pets.
